ELC

At Fountainhall ELC we provide a welcoming environment that is full of opportunity for the children to grow and develop. We aim to meet the needs of all the children in the setting by making an enriching and engaging surrounding where the children are comfortable to challenge themselves to broaden their learning and development holistically.

Primary School

Our class at Fountainhall is very unique. We currently have 6 children ranging from primary 3 to primary 7. We access a wide variety of subjects from the curriculum for excellence and have ample opportunity to learn inside and out. In our amazing outdoor space we also work together with our ELC.

About us

At Fountainhall Primary School, we foster an environment where our pupils become active participants in their learning.

Our school serves the village of Fountainhall and surrounding rural areas. The school has a classroom and a nursery as well as a small hall and a resource area. There is an extensive outdoor area for play, P.E and gardening. The outdoor area is continually being developed and the Nursery children really benefit from outdoor explorative learning and exploring.

Fountainhall Primary works in partnership with Heriot Primary and Stow Primary. Miss Anderson is the non-teaching Head Teacher of all 3 schools and Mrs Winton is the Principal Teacher of both Fountainhall and Heriot Primary schools.

Partnership working has a number of distinct advantages, including:

• Ensuring consistency of standards in learning and teaching

• Providing children with access to a wider group of friends and learning experiences

• Increasing the opportunities to develop staff expertise and the sharing of good practice

Maximising resources to the benefit of all

As a partner Head Teacher, there will be times when Miss Anderson is not on the premises of Fountainhall Primary. On these occasions the Principal Teacher, Mrs Winton, will have responsibility for the school.
